Jewish Funds for Justice
www.jewishjustice.org
The Jewish Funds for Justice is a national public foundation guided by Jewish history and tradition. JFSJ helps people in the United States achieve social and economic security and opportunity by investing in healthy neighborhoods, vibrant Jewish communities, and skillful leaders. Our holistic approach to social change includes grantmaking, loans, service learning, leadership development, organizing, education, and advocacy.
Through our service programs, JFSJ is actively bringing Jews (including donors) to the Gulf Coast to see the ongoing devastation and need firsthand and to participate in recovery efforts directly. JFSJ makes strategic grants and loans for both community development and community organizing, focused on the Gulf’s low and moderate-income communities, which have been disproportionately affected by hurricanes and their aftermath. We know that it will take years to rebuild these devastated communities, and we seek to make sure that the region’s poor and working-class residents, especially immigrants and people of color, will have a place and a voice in these efforts

Twenty-First Century Foundation (21CF)
www.21cf.org
Twenty-First Century Foundation’s mission is to lead, innovate and influence giving for Black community change. As one of the few endowed, Black public foundations in the U.S., 21CF works to advance the welfare of the Black community through strategic and collective grant making; special initiatives and research; donor education and donor services.
Thirty-eight years of experience organizing, convening, and grant making has made us a trusted friend in Black communities; meeting standards to efficiently and effectively deliver our mission has also earned the trust of the philanthropic community. In recent years, 21CF has taken a leadership role in promoting new models of Black philanthropy that support donors who want to develop the skills, commitment and imagination to address pressing issues impacting our communities. We recently changed our Hurricane Katrina Initiative to the Gulf Coast Organizing, Advocacy and Leadership Initiative (GOAL) to more accurately reflect our work and commitment to the GulfCoast.

Gulf Coast Fund for Ecological Health and Community Renewal is a collaborative grantmaking fund supporting community, state, and regional efforts that engage, empower, and benefit displaced and returning residents, and that promote the sustainable and just rebuilding of neighborhoods, cities, and ecosystems throughout the Gulf Coast.

The Fund is committed to an open and transparent decision-making process that is led by the communities most affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. To achieve this, the Fund operates in partnership with an Advisory Group consisting of a cross-section of leaders working on the ground across the Gulf Coast. This Advisory Group informs the grantmaking process and identifies needs on an ongoing basis.
